View SpecialsA micron gauge is a tiny, little device that can extend the life of your HVAC system, and most people have no idea what it is. Heck, even most air conditioning technicians don’t know what it is.
When we install a brand new system, we hook a vacuum pump up to make sure we get all the moisture and impurities out of the system.
Most technicians will watch their clock when they’re pulling a vacuum on a system and say, “Oh, it’s been 30 minutes. I’m good.” Well, that’s not always the case.
We also hook up a micron gauge. A micron gauge allows you to know exactly that you’ve removed all the moisture and that there are no leaks. Your system will last longer and run more efficiently.
I don’t know why all technicians don’t use them. They do cost you a little bit of money just to purchase them in the first place, so maybe that’s it. But we always use them, because it’s the right way to do it.
