We get a lot of calls from people wondering why we can’t provide the cost of a new HVAC system over the phone. The answer? Code upgrades.

When we install a new system, we pull a permit. In the end, we have the city come out to make sure that the work was done right and that everything is up to code. This is ultimately for your safety and protection.

The inspector will make sure everything is up to code. Your flue pip carries all the combustion from your furnace out into the atmosphere. It has to be the right size for your home. Your attic has to have the proper amount of flooring to service your system. We need to look at breaker and wire sizing.

All of these things will factor into the cost of your new system. Unfortunately, there are a lot of companies that don’t do that, and sometimes it ends in disaster.

I’ve heard and seen horrible things happen when systems haven’t been inspected. If a house catches on fire and the insurance company finds out there was no permit pulled, it’s considered an illegal installation, and the claim is denied.

We don’t want that happening to any of our customers, so we always make sure to check for code upgrades before installing a new HVAC system. If you have any questions, we are here to help. Call the On Time Experts at 281-694-7946.
