You can get a fifty-cent filter at a hardware store, but if you shine it up to the light, you’ll see straight through it. That particular filter is only going to catch the elephants of the dirt world. The On Time Experts can help you find a filter that will work well for you and your system.

Your air filter’s job is to keep your system clean. Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) is a standard that rates the overall effectiveness of air filters. The pleated type filters you can get at Home Depot have a MERV of 11. We prefer the poly ring filters that are a MERV 12 or 13.

Our favorite is the air ranger. It’s a one-inch, electronic air cleaner, and it has 97% efficiency. You know those particles you can see floating when light shines through glass? You want to catch as many of those as possible, and this air ranger will do it. It’s the most efficient air cleaner on the market.

The dirtier your system becomes, the harder it has to work, and that results in a system that fails before it should. As part of our Front of the Line Family, we come out twice a year and we can bring a year’s supply of filters with us. That way, you don’t have to worry about searching for filters at Home Depot or the hardware store.
